K-Pop’s Enduring Innovator: Chuu Drops 1st Full Album ‘XO, My Cyberlove’ & Reflects on a Decade! 💿✨
In an era increasingly dominated by rapid-fire digital singles, the release of a full-length album in K-Pop is a significant statement. Against this backdrop, Chuu, the beloved artist known for her radiant energy, has made a powerful comeback with her first full-length album, ‘XO, My Cyberlove’, marking an impressive milestone in her career. As she approaches her 10th debut anniversary, Chuu sits down to share her journey, artistic vision, and aspirations, a narrative that resonates far beyond mere entertainment, hinting at the strategic evolution of an enduring artist.
Returning with the full force of a decade-long career, Chuu expressed her profound ambition: “My dream is to become a singer whom people trust to listen to without limits, a highly anticipated solo artist whose concerts they’ll eagerly attend.” This powerful sentiment underpins her latest offering, ‘XO, My Cyberlove’, a meticulously crafted debut full-length album released on January 7, 2026.

Held at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, the album’s press conference introduced a project that delicately captures “the changing nature of relationships” in an age where reality and virtuality increasingly intertwine. ‘XO, My Cyberlove’ presents a modern love story, interpreting digital connections through Chuu’s unique vocal presence and emotional depth. The title track, also named ‘XO, My Cyberlove’, offers a dreamy, 1980s-inspired texture, metaphorically exploring emotional shifts that arise between humans and AI within virtual chat windows.
Indeed, the release of a full-length album has become a rarity in the fast-paced K-Pop landscape. Artists often opt for mini-albums or digital singles, as rapidly shifting trends mean listeners frequently focus only on title tracks. Yet, Chuu embraced this challenge, stating, “I’ve always wanted to release a full album to showcase my diverse voice and genres when I felt confident in presenting my full color. I believe now is the perfect timing, having prepared with utmost dedication.”

When asked about the conviction behind her decision, Chuu elaborated, “It’s not necessarily that my skills are perfectly ready, but through consistent lessons, I’ve clarified my direction and what I want to show. This full album is not an end but a beginning, a starting point to weave more defined stories.”
The concept of ‘Cyberlove’, prevalent in the 1990s, might seem distant for Chuu, born in 1999. However, she explained her modern take: “While there are many ways to express emotion like touch or conversation, in today’s digital age, we use emojis, images, and videos. I wanted to build the album’s backdrop around this normalized era.”
Preparing the album wasn’t without its challenges, particularly internal doubts. Chuu confessed, “People around me recently told me I tend to downplay myself. I, who was most confident in my voice, worried, ‘Am I cutting down my self-esteem? Can I overcome people’s emotional barriers?'” To combat this, she dedicated herself to acting, vocal lessons, and training. Her focus shifted from individual songs to intertwining emotions across diverse narratives, ensuring a cohesive story throughout the album.
Remarkably, Chuu debuted as a project single artist in 2017 and officially as a member of LOONA in August 2018. Now, in 2026, she finds herself on the cusp of her 10th debut anniversary. Reflecting on this significant milestone, she admitted, “The term ’10th year’ feels so unfamiliar to me; it hasn’t quite sunk in.”

She emphasized her enduring passion: “I enjoyed this profession and singing so much; every moment on stage was precious. I feel like I’ve given my best as a singer, so it’s strange how quickly time has passed.” Looking forward, Chuu articulated her profound goals:
- ✨ To continuously grow as a female solo artist, showing incremental, limitless improvement regardless of her career year.
- 💡 To draw inspiration from seniors while fearlessly challenging herself to write and tell her own stories.
- 🎤 To become a “trusted” artist, capable of performing entire concerts filled with her own diverse and beloved songs.
- 🎶 To cultivate a distinctive musical identity, making listeners curious about her narrative and recognizing a unique “Chuu-pop” or “Chuu’s style.”
Beyond her musical endeavors, Chuu’s versatility as an entertainer is undeniable, spanning acting, YouTube, and TV variety shows. Known for her perpetually smiling demeanor, she recently surprised fans with an unexpected “straight face” moment.

In April last year, during an appearance on the ‘Bbaatdeoneoseu’ YouTube channel’s ‘Ttakdae’ content, Chuu displayed a rare deadpan expression in response to a comedic jab. The moment, while intentional for the show’s concept, went viral due to its stark contrast with her usual bubbly image. Chuu herself expressed surprise at its popularity: “I never imagined my straight face would become such a hot topic! My friends even told me it looked pretty and sharp. It made me wonder, ‘Is there still so much of me I haven’t shown?'” She enthusiastically added, “This gives me a new way to utilize it on stage. Since stages going viral is a good thing, I see it as a positive opportunity.”
Chuu’s first full-length album, ‘XO, My Cyberlove’, is now available on all major online music platforms as of 6 PM KST on January 7, 2026.
The decision to release a full album in a singles-driven market is a bold strategic play, signaling Chuu’s long-term artistic commitment and maturity. This move, coupled with her digital-savvy concept, positions her as a forward-thinking artist ready to navigate evolving industry landscapes.
As Chuu embarks on this new chapter, her dedication to artistic growth and authentic storytelling promises an exciting future for both her career and the broader K-Pop scene.
