K-Indie Singer Jindehnam Passes Away at 29 💔 Family Clarifies Tragic Accidental Death
Hello Korea mourns the heartbreaking news of the passing of K-indie singer Jindehnam, who left us at the young age of 29. The music world is reeling from the sudden loss of a talented artist known for his unique sound and heartfelt compositions.
The tragic news was first announced by the late singer’s younger sister via social media on January 3, 2026, revealing that her brother passed away on the evening of December 17, 2025, due to an accident. The family has since come forward to clarify the circumstances surrounding his death, firmly addressing and dismissing various speculations.
According to the bereaved family, the official cause of death for Jindehnam, whose real name was Kim Jeong-yeop, was an accidental fall attributed to an underlying illness. This statement was made to clearly distinguish his passing from any speculative interpretations, particularly those suggesting suicide.
The family revealed that Jindehnam had been receiving treatment for Bipolar Affective Disorder and symptoms of Schizophrenia since 2015. Despite his dedicated efforts to manage his condition through ongoing hospital treatment and medication, his symptoms had rapidly worsened recently, reaching a point where family support alone was insufficient to control them. Interestingly, throughout his battle with illness, Jindehnam reportedly drew strength from his faith, striving to spread love and belief to those around him. However, the nature of his illness led to repetitive impulsive behaviors, causing immense and prolonged suffering for both him and his family.
Emphasizing that his death was unequivocally an accident and not suicide, the family shared a poignant anecdote: Jindehnam would often say, “The day I leave is a happy day to go to heaven, so don’t be sad.” They implored fans and the public to remember him not as a figure of sorrow, but through his enduring music and warm memories. The funeral was held quietly, attended only by close relatives, and he was laid to rest at the Evergreen Arboretum in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
Beyond his personal struggles, Jindehnam leaves behind a compelling musical legacy. His artistic journey began with a strong academic background, graduating from the prestigious Fudan University in China. We recall his early days captivating audiences:
