K-pop sensation MONSTA X’s beloved maknae, I.M, is officially gearing up to fulfill his mandatory military service, sending waves through the global Monbebe community. Hello Korea confirms that the multi-talented artist will be enlisting in the South Korean Army next month.
On January 12, I.M’s agency released an official statement confirming his enlistment date. He is set to enter the new recruit training center on February 9, 2026, where he will undergo basic military training before serving as an active duty soldier in the Army. Importantly, the agency also stated that there will be no official event held on the day of his enlistment.
Interestingly, I.M’s journey has seen some significant shifts in his solo career path prior to this announcement. After concluding his exclusive contract with Starship Entertainment in August 2022, he joined Sony Music Korea in November 2022, a contract which subsequently wrapped up in August 2025. Despite these changes in his individual agency affiliations, I.M has consistently maintained his unwavering commitment to MONSTA X, continuing all group activities without interruption.
Speaking of group activities, MONSTA X has been actively promoting their new mini-album, ‘THE X,’ featuring the powerful title track ‘N the Front.’ This demonstrates the group’s ongoing presence and I.M’s dedication right up to his enlistment.
