The accompanying caption, starkly simple yet powerful, read: ‘D+8 She’s just crying.’ This emotional reveal comes just a day after Chanhyuk declared on January 7 that AKMU had been undergoing ‘intense training from January 1‘ in preparation for their ‘new start’ – a phrase widely understood to signify their activities under fresh management following their departure from YG.

This monumental shift officially began in November last year, when AKMU concluded their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment. Having been with the agency since their debut, this decision marked a significant turning point not just for the artists, but also for the label.

In a rare and candid statement at the time, YG clarified the circumstances surrounding the separation. According to the agency, Yang Hyun-suk, the General Producer, had met with Chanhyuk and Suhyun approximately six months prior to discuss their future. The core of their dilemma was whether to remain with YG, their home for 12 years, or venture into independent challenges. Intriguingly, Yang Hyun-suk reportedly encouraged the duo to explore new environments, pledging his unwavering support from the sidelines.

The siblings’ farewell messages reflected a deep connection to their former agency:
