Today, we’re sharing two simple and delicious Korean recipes that you can easily make right in Indonesia.

1. Kimchi Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Kimchi)
Ingredients:
- 1 serving of cooked rice
- Kimchi (as much as you like)
- 1 egg
- ¼ onion
- Cooking oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp sugar
- A little sesame oil
Instructions:
- Heat some oil in a pan and stir-fry the chopped onion.
- Once the onion becomes translucent, add the chopped kimchi and stir-fry for about 2 minutes.
- Add the rice, season with soy sauce and sugar, and mix everything well.
- When everything is nicely fried, turn off the heat and drizzle a bit of sesame oil.
- Top with a fried egg, and you’re done!

2. Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes)
Ingredients:
- Korean rice cakes (tteok) — or any rice cakes available in Indonesian supermarkets
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- Green onions or regular onions
- Fish cakes (optional)
Instructions:
- In a pot, mix the water, gochujang, sugar, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil.
- Once the sauce is boiling, add the rice cakes and fish cakes (if using). Let it simmer over medium heat for 5–7 minutes.
- Add chopped green onions or onions and cook for another 2 minutes.
- When the sauce thickens, turn off the heat and serve!
Tips
- Can’t find Korean tteok? No worries—you can substitute with Indonesian rice cakes (lontong), and it’s still delicious!
- Want it spicier? Add some local chili peppers to give it an extra kick!
